Lionni, Leo
Filho de um negociante de diamantes e de uma cantora de ópera, Lionni cresce na Holanda e na Itália. Já adulto, começa a pintar, influenciado pelos pintores futuristas. Obtém seu Doutorado em Economia pela Universidade de Gênova, em 1935, mas sua vida profissional se dá na direção de arte para campanhas publicitárias. É nessa condição que se mudará para Filadélfia, nos Estados Unidos, em 1939, onde realizará importantes campanhas, contratando, para executá-las, artistas como Saul Steinberg, Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, Willem De Kooning, entre outros. Dirigiu a arte da revista Fortune de 1948 a 1960. Neste ano muda-se novamente para a Itália, onde começa a se dedicar à ilustração e autoria de seus mais de 40 livros infantis. |
