Anne Of Avonlea
At sixteen, Anne is grown up... almost. Her gray eyes shine like evening stars, but her red hair is still as peppery as her temper. In the years since she arrived at Green Gables as a freckle-faced orphan, she has earned the love of the people of Avonlea and a reputation for getting into scrapes. Along with teaching the three Rs, she is learning how complicated life can be when she meddles in someone elses romance, finds two new orphans at Green Gables, and wonders about the strange behaviour of the very handsome Gilbert Blythe. As Anne enters womanhood, her adventures touch the heart and the funny bone Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian author, best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. She was born at Clifton, Prince Edward Island, November 30, 1874. She came to live at Leaskdale, north of Uxbridge, Ontario, in 1911 after her wedding with Reverend Ewen Macdonald in Prince Edward Island. Her three children were born at Leaskdale, and she wrote close to a dozen books while she was living in the Leaskdale Manse before the Macdonald family moved to Norval, Ontario, in 1926. Maud died in Toronto April 24, 1942 and was buried at Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.

Autora da famosa série da personagem Anne Shirley, Lucy Maud Montgomery nasceu em 30 de novembro de 1874, em Clifton, na Ilha do Príncipe Edward, Canadá. Viveu com seus avós maternos até os 7 anos, idade em que passou a morar com o pai. No ano de 1911, casou-se com o reverendo Ewen Macdonald e mudou-se para Leaksdale, em Ontário, cidade onde nasceram seus três filhos e ela escreveu diversos de seus livros. Apesar de viver no continente, as paisagens da Ilha e as aventuras que viveu lá quando criança serviram de grande inspiração para suas obras, especialmente a série Anne. Lucy faleceu em 24 de abril de 1942. |
