Matthew Polly é autor dos best-sellers American Shaolin e Tapped Out. Formado pela Universidade de Princeton e bolsista Rhodes na Universidade de Oxford, estudou kung fu por dois anos no Templo Shaolin em Henan, na China. Seus textos encontram-se em publicações como The Washington Post, Esquire, Slate, Playboy e The Nation. Matthew é pesquisador na Universidade de Yale e mora em New Haven, Connecticut, nos Estados Unidos.
