Seneca
Sêneca (4 a. C. - 65) foi um filósofo, escritor e político romano. Mestre da retórica foi o principal representante do Estoicismo durante o Império Romano. Lucius Annaeus Sêneca, conhecido como Sêneca o Jovem, nasceu em Córdoba, Espanha, por volta do ano 04 a. C., durante o Império Romano. Em 62, Sêneca passa a se dedicar a escrever e defender sua filosofia. Entre seus últimos textos estão um trabalho científico intitulado “Problemas Naturais”, os tratados: “Sobre a Brevidade da Vida” e “Sobre o Ócio” e, sua obra mais profunda, as “Epistolai Morales ad Lucilium”, em que reúne conselhos estoicos e elementos epicuristas na pregação de uma fraternidade universal, mais tarde adotadas pela igreja cristã. Sêneca deixou também nove peças dramáticas inspiradas nos modelos clássicos e que são de fato estudos das tensões emocionais a que se vêm submetidos os personagens. Entre elas: “Medeia”, “Fedra”, Édipo”, “Hércules” e “Agamenon” . |
