É historiador, biógrafo vencedor do Prêmio Pulitzer e autor best-seller do New York Times. Formado pela Sewanee — A Universidade do Sul, Meacham ocupa a cátedra Carolyn T. e Robert M. Rogers de Presidência Americana como professor visitante da Universidade Vanderbilt.
