Greene, Graham

O inglês Graham Greene (1904-1991) teve uma formação ortodoxa em colégios no interior da Inglaterra e sempre se arriscou na vida literária — em poemas, artigos e contos. Aos 22 anos, mudou-se para Londres, onde trabalhou para os mais importantes jornais, como Times e The Spectator. A conversão ao catolicismo moldaria em grande parte sua obra, que, desde o início, trata de questões morais em meio a histórias policialescas e dramas psicológicos. Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, Greene trabalhou no serviço de inteligência inglês e depois da guerra viajou por vários países — e isso introduziu em seus romances um forte teor político. Recebeu inúmeros prêmios e hoje é considerado um dos autores mais importantes do romance moderno inglês.
